参考消息网5月21日报道 西媒称，美国航天局（NASA）喷气推进实验室的一个研究团队日前刊登在《地球物理通讯》月刊上的一项研究指出，木卫二地下水中存在维持生命形式的必要的化学平衡关系。
西班牙《阿贝赛报》5月18日报道，一段时间以来，科学家坚信木卫二冰封的地表下蕴藏着深邃浩瀚的咸水海洋。但迄今为止仍无法确定，木卫二是否具备适宜的环境或基础（其中蕴含维持生命过程所必需的呈一定比例的原料和能量）。
NASA喷气推进实验室的专家在研究中对比了木卫二和地球制造氧气和氢气的潜能。氧和氢之间的平衡关系是一项最为重要的指标，能表明可用于维持生命的能量水平。对比结果非常理想，木卫二上的氢氧水平与地球相似，氧气制造量是氢气制造量的约10倍。
NASA科学家指出，应当注意的是，研究表明木卫二的内部结构可能比此前认为的复杂得多，与地球十分相似。
喷气推进实验室行星地质学家史蒂夫·万斯表示：“我们利用地球体系中能量和营养的运动原理来研究木卫二上的海洋。同地球一样，木卫二海洋中的氢氧循环是维持那里可能存在的任何生命形式的重要因素。”
万斯及其同事还将研究木卫二海洋中对生命存在至关重要的其他元素的循环，如碳、氮、磷和硫等。
